13 Covid-19 infections today include seven children of infected couple

KUCHING, Nov 13: Seven children of a Covid-19 positive married couple in Kuching are reported to have been infected with the virus as well.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said Cases 1,020 to 1,024, 1,028 and 1,029 are the children of Cases 1,010 (wife) and 1,012 (husband) which were reported on Nov 11 and 12 respectively.


These cases are seven out of the total of 12 new Covid-19 cases reported in Kuching today.

“Case 1,025 is the co-worker and close contact of Case 1,021. This case has been complaining to be experiencing fever and coughs since Nov 9.

“Case 1,026 is the child and close contact under one roof of Cases 1,027 and 1,028. This case is asymptomatic.

“Case 1,027 is the wife and close contact of Case 1028. This case did not show any symptoms of Covid-19,” it stated, adding that the 10 cases comprise of seven males and three females aged from five to 28 years old.

Another case in the district, Case 1,032 involved a local elderly man who had close contact with Case 967 who was related to one of the active clusters in Kuching, the Wisma Saberkas Cluster.

The 12th Covid-19 case in Kuching is a local male working in a private firm who went for a screening test in a medical clinic as he was experiencing some fever and coughs since Nov 10. He had no history of visiting overseas or Covid-19 high-risk areas.

SDMC assured that all cases have been admitted into isolation wards in Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further treatment while active tracing of close contacts are being conducted.

Outside of Kuching, one case was reported in Lawas. The male patient is a government retiree who had a travel history to Sabah from Sept 24 to 25 for the purpose of a health checkup in Hospital Queen Elizabeth, Kota Kinabalu.

With that, the committee concludes a total of 13 new Covid-19 cases in Sarawak, with a cumulative number of 1,032 Covid-19 cases as of this day.

Meanwhile, it noted eight patients who have recovered and been discharged from hospitals today and zero Covid-19 cases are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

SDMC also reported 20 new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases and three cases awaiting laboratory test results.

“Today, there are 317 person-under-surveillance (PUS) who were registered into various hotels across Sarawak to be quarantined, resulting in a total of 2,439 PUS being quarantined in 30 hotels throughout Sarawak.

“A total of 31,053 PUS have completed their 14-day quarantine,” said SDMC. —DayakDaily
