Covid-19: Only Kuching logs triple-digit case count as Sarawak’s total climbs to 528, 11 in critical stage

KUCHING, Nov 2: Only Kuching district registered a triple-digit case count today as Sarawak’s total of new Covid-19 cases rose to 528, an increase from 478 reported yesterday.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said of the new cases reported today, only eleven cases are classified as in the critical stage.

Three patients who developed pneumonia but can still breathe on their own are in Category 3, four patients in Category 4 need oxygen supply, while four Category 5 patients need a ventilator to breathe.

Meanwhile, the remaining 517 new cases are in Category 1 (no symptoms) and Category 2 (mild symptoms).

By district, Kuching took the lead in terms of numbers with 174 cases, followed by Miri (95), Sibu (61), Bintulu (34), Limbang (24), Dalat (23), Lawas (22), Serian (13) and Mukah (10).

Districts recording daily cases below 10 are Sarikei (7), Subis (7), Kapit (6), Sri Aman (4), Samarahan (4), Song (4), Meradong (4), Kanowit (4), Kabong (4), Lubok Antu (4), Betong (3), Bau (3), Saratok (2), Pusa (2), Lundu (2), Selangau (2), Belaga (2), Asajaya (2), Julau (2), Beluru (2), Tebedu (1) and Bukit Mabong (1).

Nine other districts comprising Marudi, Telang Usan, Sebauh, Simunjan, Pakan, Tanjung Manis, Matu, Daro and Tatau did not record any new cases today.

Nineteen new Covid-19 fatalities were reported, bringing the death toll in Sarawak to 1,373.

At the same time, SDMC said there were no new clusters declared in Sarawak. With this, there are a total of 27 active clusters in Sarawak presently. — DayakDaily
