Covid-19: One fatality confirmed in Tawau as 919 new cases reported

KUCHING, Nov 12: Malaysia recorded a total of 919 new Covid-19 cases today, with one death.

Ministry of Health (MOH) director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said, from this total, three were import cases recorded in Kuala Lumpur (two) and Sabah (one), involving individuals returning from Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and Nigeria.

“Sabah recorded a total of 319 cases (34.7 per cent of total cases today), followed by Negeri Sembilan with 240 cases, Selangor (174), Pulau Pinang (63), Kuala Lumpur (49), Labuan (35), Perak (nine), Sarawak (eight), Johor (eight), Melaka (eight), Kedah (three), Kelantan (two) and Putrajaya (one), while three other states namely Perlis, Terengganu and Pahang, reported zero cases.


“This brings the total number of cases in Malaysia to 43,791 cases, with 11,419 active cases,” he said during the daily press conference on Covid-19 developments in the country in Putrajaya, today.

Dr Noor Hisham also revealed that 996 cases (73.2 per cent of overall cases reported) recovered and were discharged from hospitals today, bringing the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 32,069 (73.2 per cent).

“Currently a total of 92 cases are being treated in Intensive Care Units (ICUs), with 35 of them requiring respiratory assistance.

“The National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) also reported one death involving Covid-19 today reported in Tawau Hospital, and this brings the total cumulative cases of death involving Covid-19 in the country to 303 cases (0.7 per cent of total cases reported),” he added. — DayakDaily
