KUCHING, July 24: Nine new Covid-19 cases were reported in Sarawak as of 12pm today, bringing the state tally of positive cases to 641.

This was according to a graphic of the latest Covid-19 situation in the country posted in the Facebook page of Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Earlier in May, the situation of Covid-19 in Sarawak had improved especially when Kuching was demoted from the red zone to yellow zone on May 15.

However, the increasing number of positive cases which have resurfaced in the past two weeks is likely to push Kuching back into the red zone.

Yesterday, Dr Noor Hisham mentioned that there could be a possibility for the ministry to implement an Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in Sarawak if the need arises. —DayakDaily
