Covid-19: New Taman Putrajaya cluster forms in Bintulu

KUCHING, Oct 10: There is one new cluster of Covid-19 in Sarawak known as Taman Putrajaya cluster that was identified in Bintulu.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the index case of the cluster is case 733 who was tested positive of Covid-19 on October 8.


He disclosed that the patient underwent Covid-19 test at Bintulu Hospital after developing symptoms of Covid-19 since October 1.

“The index case has a travelling history to Perak and Kuala Lumpur from September 24 to 27.

“Active case detection was carried out after the index case was tested positive Covid-19.

“As of 12 noon today, a total of 56 close contacts have been screened and out of that, four close contacts were found to be positive Covid-19 while another two were negative in the first Covid-19 swab test.

“There are 50 persons who are awaiting Covid-19 swab test results.

“This makes the total cases in Taman Putrajaya cluster as five patients including the index case,” Uggah said during a press conference on the latest Covid-19 situation in Sarawak here today.

Uggah who is also Deputy Chief Minister noted that there are currently two Covid-19 clusters which are active in Sarawak.

They are the “Bah Arnab” cluster in Kuching which involved four patients and the Taman Putrajaya cluster in Bintulu which involved five patients. —DayakDaily
