Covid-19: 374 new cases recorded, 6 new clusters identified

KUCHING, Oct 10: Ministry of Health (MOH) disclosed that the country recorded a total of 374 new positive cases of Covid-19 today, with six new clusters identified.

According to the ministry’s director general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the six new clusters that have been identified are in Selangor (Bah Manggis cluster, Utama cluster and Tasik cluster), Sabah (Highway cluster) and Sarawak (Putrajaya cluster).

“Sabah recorded the highest number of new positive Covid-19 cases with a total of 277 cases, followed by Selangor (44), Kedah, (27), Sarawak (nine), Kuala Lumpur (six), Penang (three), Johor (two), Perak (two), Labuan (one), Melaka (one) and Putrajaya (one).

“This brings the total cumulative cases of positive Covid-19 in the country to 15,096 cases. Currently 73 cases of positive Covid-19 are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) with 28 of them under respiratory assistance,” he said today during a press conference on the Covid-19 development in the country.

Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham revealed a total of 73 cases of Covid-19 have also recovered and discharged from the hospital today, bringing the total cumulative cases of recovered and discharged cases in the country to 10,096 cases.

He also said a total of three Covid-19 deaths were recorded in Tawau Hospital (case number 14,039), Queen Elizabeth Hospital (case number 14,974) and Semporna Hospital (case number 14,999) in Sabah, which involved three Malaysians, aged between 51 to 61 years.

“This brings the death toll in the country involving Covid-19 to 155 cases (1.03 per cent),” he added. –DayakDaily.
