Covid-19: New cases drop to 689 from 880, three deaths reported in Epid Week 50


KUCHING, Dec 12: Sarawak reports 689 new Covid-19 cases during Epid (Epidemiological) Week 50, a steady decrease from the 880 cases reported during Epid Week 49.

According to a statement issued today by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), 672 cases were classified as Category 1 and 2, while 17 were classified as Categories 3, 4, and 5.

This has brought the total cumulative number of cases reported in the State to 322,796.


By district, Kuching remained at the top with the most number of new cases at 244, followed by Sibu (99), Miri (76), Bintulu (71), Sarikei (34), Samarahan (27), Serian (17), Dalat (14), Betong (12), Kapit (10), Sri Aman (9), Mukah and Meradong (6 each), Pakan (5), Simunjan (4), Subis, Lubok Antu, Lundu, Daro, and Saratok (3 each), Marudi, Tatau, Bukit Mabong, Kabong, Asajaya, Limbang, and Matu (2 each), Lawas, Kanowit, Sebauh, Selangau, Song, and Beluru (1 each).

In addition, one Covid-19 death was reported in Samarahan, and two deaths were reported in Sarikei during Epid Week 50. — DayakDaily
