Covid-19: Matu workplace cluster, Jalan Pengiran Cluster identified

KUCHING, Jan 31: The State Health Department has identified a new cluster of Covid-19 known as the Jalan Pengiran Cluster in the Matu District in Mukah.

According to a press statement from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today, the new cluster of Covid-19, involved cluster in a workplace at the district administration centre in Jalan Pengiran Matu.


The committee said the index case to the cluster was case 3,218 which involved a screening of a symptomatic man on January 24 after he attended a social gathering in Sibu.

It added the active case detection (ACD) exercise carried out by the health authorities has confirmed seven more positive cases of Covid-19.

As of today, it noted a total of eight individuals for the Jalan Pengiran Cluster including the index case have been tested positive.

A total of 65 individuals for the cluster have been screened with 57 tested negative and non awaiting laboratory test results.

With the emergence of a new cluster of Covid-19, SDMC said there are now 11 active cluster of Covid-19 in Sarawak.

The active clusters are Jalan Pengiran, Tabong, Indah Riang, Bedayan, Rakut,Bukit Sekubong, Jelita, Pasai, Keranji Tabuan, Stutong and Bah Sayap.

Five out of the 11 active clusters reported new cases.

They are the Pasai Cluster which reported an increase of 32 new cases, Rakut (16), Tabong (11),  Jalan Pengiran (8) and Bedayan (1). — DayakDaily
