Covid-19: Malaysia records 12 new cases, one fatality

KUCHING, July 31: The Health Ministry (MOH) recorded 12 new Covid-19 cases today, of which seven were local transmission.

MOH in a statement today said of the seven local transmissions, Johor and Kedah recorded two cases each, while Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Sabah recorded one case each.

The remaining five positive Covid-19 were import cases recorded in Kuala Lumpur where three returnees came from the United Kingdom, Qatar and Indonesia while Johor and Sarawak recorded one case each, both foreigners returning from Indonesia.


The total number of cumulative cases in Malaysia is now at 8,976 and the number of active cases as of today stands at 207.

The country also recorded one fatality reported to the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC), involving a foreigner who died in Sabah.

Total number of cumulative death death cases is now at 125.

Meanwhile, 27 more patients have recovered and were discharged from hospitals, bringing the rate of recovery to 96.3 per cent (8,644 cases).

Three patients are currently being treated in the intensive care unit, with one on ventilator support.-DayakDaily
