Covid-19: Kuching, Miri sees triple-digit cases as Sarawak records 703 overall

KUCHING, June 7: Kuching and Miri registered triple-digits increases as Sarawak reported 703 new Covid-19 cases and four fatalities today.

According to a report from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), Kuching and Miri both registered 139 cases.

Other districts which reported new cases include Tanjung Manis with 68, Kapit (58), Sibu (55), Bintulu (52), Song (49), Samarahan (25), Kabong (17), Sebauh (16), Beluru (16), Subis (9), Kanowit (8), Tatau (8), Mukah (7), Asajaya (6), Selangau (6), Sri Aman (5), Telang Usan (4), Dalat (3), Serian (3), Marudi (3), Bukit Mabong (2), Sarikei (2), Meradong (2) and Betong (1).

With this, the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Sarawak has increased to 51,874.

On another note, four casualties which involved three men and one woman each in Kapit, Mukah, Miri and Sri Aman was reported with one brought in dead (BID) case from Sri Aman.

Meanwhile, there were 513 Covid-19 patients who were reported recovered today, bringing the total number of recoveries in the State to 42,538 people or 81.65 per cent of overall cases.

A total of 9,078 Covid-19 patients are still being treated in hospitals and quarantine and low-risk treatment centres (PKRC).

There were also 703 new Person-Under-Investigation (PUI) cases, with none awaiting Covid-19 swab test results. — DayakDaily
