Covid-19 infection: Kapit, Kanowit and Belaga worsen while Beluru, Tg Manis improve

KUCHING, Aug 19: Covid-19 situations in Kapit, Kanowit and Belaga have worsened, resulting in them being classified as Covid-19 red zones while Beluru and Tanjung Manis have improved to be placed under Covid-19 orange and green zone respectively.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), Kapit and Kanowit districts are now red zone.
after recording 41 to 50 local infections within the last 14 days respectively.

As for Belaga which was a yellow zone district, a total of 50 local infection cases reported in the last two-weeks had put the district straight back into the red zone.


Meanwhile, Covid-19 situation in Beluru district has improved with only 33 local infections recorded in last fortnight while Tanjung Manis joined four other districts to enjoy Covid-19 green status as zero new cases were reported in the last two weeks.

As of today, a total of 24 districts are classified as Covid-19 red zones. They are Belaga, Kapit, Kanowit, Pusa, Betong, Tebedu, Dalat, Selangau, Sri Aman, Kabong, Asajaya, Subis, Mukah, Simunjan, Tatau, Lundu, Saratok, Bau, Samarahan, Serian, Kuching, Bintulu, Miri, and Sibu, while Beluru, Song, and Meradong are in the orange zone status.

Eight other districts namely Bukit Mabong, Lubok Antu, Telang Usan, Sarikei, Pakan, Sebauh, Julau, including Lawas, are enjoying yellow zone status. With the new addition of Tanjung Manis today, Daro, Matu, Marudi and Limbang are the five districts with green zone status.

Districts classified as red zones are those recording more than 40 local infections in the past 14 days while those yielding 21 to 40 cases are place under orange zone category. Yellow zone status are for districts with less than 20 cases in past two weeks while only districts which yield no new cases for two weeks may enjoy green zone status. – DayakDaily.
