Covid-19 in Sarawak: New cases drop to 139, no deaths or new clusters reported

KUCHING, April 20: There were no Covid-19 deaths and no new or active clusters reported in Sarawak today, .

According to a report released by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), Sarawak has recorded 139 new Covid-19 cases today, down from 160 yesterday, with Kuching district accounting for the biggest share.

Kuching (40), Bintulu and Sibu (21 each), and Miri (20) were the four districts which saw double-digit increases in new cases.


Districts reporting single-digit gains were Samarahan and Bau (6 each), Serian, Mukah, Betong, Sarikei, and Beluru (3 each), Subis and Lubok Antu (2 each), Sri Aman, Asajaya, Limbang, Marudi, Daro, and Tatau (1 each).

Additionally, 48 of the new cases were classified as Category 1 (no symptoms), while 90 were classified as Category 2 (mild symptoms).

Meanwhile, there were zero new cases were in Category 3 (lung infection), one was in Category 4 (lung infection requiring oxygen support), and zero cases in Category 5 (lung infection requiring ventilator support).

Furthermore, the police issued three compounds in the State in the most recent 24-hour-period for standard operating procedure (SOP) violations, all in Kuching, for failing to check-in via MySejahtera before entering public premises.

To date, the State police have issued 13,878 compounds for various SOP violations. — DayakDaily
