Covid-19 fatalities in Malaysia rise to 11

KUCHING, March 23: Malaysia has recorded its 11th fatality due to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).

According to Ministry of Health (MoH) director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the latest case involved a 70-year-old man who had a history of chronic disease.

The man has a travel history to Indonesia in February 2020 and was the chairman for a local mosque (surau).

Dr Noor Hisham revealed the patient had shown Covid-19 symptoms a week before he was admitted to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre on March 18.

The deceased tested positive for Covid-19 on March 19 and was given breathing aid at the intensive care unit (ICU) but his health condition deteriorated by the day.

The deceased’s health condition worsened and he was pronounced dead last night at 9:05pm. — DayakDaily
