KUCHING, April 14: Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian applauds all frontliners who have been working long shifts, separated from their families but who yet continue to serve with a smile.
“I thank all the doctors and nurses who have been working long shifts and who have to work in layers of protective gear. I can assure you, wearing layers of protective gear means it is hot, sweaty and uncomfortable.
“They are also separated from their family for weeks but they continue to serve cheerfully and soldiering on at the frontlines,” Dr Sim wrote on a social media post.
He stressed that the medical profession is a noble one and it is a calling instead of a job.
Meanwhile, Dr Sim also revealed that he is ready to join these frontliners, not only as a cardiologist but also to apply his experiences which he gained while serving in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Alfred Hospital in Melbourne.
“I salute each and every one of you. Continue centuries of fine traditions of healing,” exhorted Dr Sim who is also Batu Kawah assemblyman.
Dr Sim made the post after his second test for Covid-19 at the Sarawak General Hospital.
Dr Sim together with Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi were categorised as persons-under-investigation (PUI) for Covid-19 after they attended a State Disaster Management Committee meeting on March 27 with Assistant Transportation Minister Datuk Dr Jerip Susil.
Dr Jerip was admitted to Sarawak General Hospital on April 2 after he tested positive for Covid-19. He has since tested negative twice for the illness and is recovering in isolation at home. — DayakDaily
