Covid-19 Cat 1 patients decrease to 145, Cat 2 remains high at 409

KUCHING, Oct 29: The number of Covid-19 Category 1 patients has dropped significantly to 145 today while that of Category 2 remains high at 409 out of the total of 566 new cases.

Of the serious categories, State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) counted 12 cases today: three Category 3’s with lung infections, three Category 4’s with lung infections and needing oxygen, and six Category 5’s with lung infections and requiring ventilator support.


On the case breakdown according to districts, Kuching remained at the top, recording 138 cases, followed by Miri with 84 cases.

Other districts that reported double-digit case numbers were Sibu (79), Lawas (38), Limbang (34), Bintulu (25), Mukah (18), Kanowit (17), Serian (16), Simunjan (12), and Samarahan (10).

The remaining districts with new infections included Daro, Betong, Dalat (9 cases each), Sri Aman (8), Pakan (7), Lundu, Sarikei (6 cases each), Bau (5), Marudi, Meradong, Saratok, Subis (4 cases each), Asajaya, Belaga, Beluru (3 cases each), Tebedu, Telang Usan (2 cases each), Kapit, Pusa, Song, Lubok Antu, Sebauh, Bukit Mabong, and Tatau (1 case each).

Only five districts registered zero new Covid-19 cases for the day. They were Tanjung Manis, Julau, Kabong, Selangau, and Matu.

The cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak since March, 2020 now stands at 239,784.

Meanwhile, three clusters, namely the Ensebang Plaie Cluster in Serian, Annah Rais Cluster in Kuching, and Sungai Tangap Cluster in Subis ended today after recording zero new cases for 28 consecutive days.
