“The movement of workers is limited to the factory area and does not involve the surrounding community.

“All workers have been tested while the factory and the surrounding area have been placed under Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) from July 5 to 18,” Lee explained, according to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukaa) today.

Following the outbreak, Lee, who is also Minister of Transport has urged the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) to expedite approval of industrial vaccination centres (PPVINs) in Kuala Baram and Kuala Baram Industrial Park so that they can operate immediately.

“The CITF team from Kuching has inspected the venue and the revised layout plan has been sent,” he said.

He also disclosed that the PPVIN for Miri Port has been approved and will start operating on July 8 to serve as a one-stop vaccination centre for the industry and their workers.

Lee also urged relevant agencies and authorities to step up enforcement monitoring and inspection on industrial premises to ensure compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOP).

“Once again, we want to remind industries under the essential services allowed to operate during the current MCO period to strictly comply with SOP and other Covid-19 restrictions to prevent the spread of Covid-19,” he added. — DayakDaily
