Covid-19: Sarawak sets dubious high as new cases breach 5,000-mark

KUCHING, Sept 12: Covid-19 cases in Sarawak have breached the 5,000-mark for the first time since the pandemic began, setting a record sum of 5,291 today.

The figure was revealed by Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah just minutes ago, thus pushing Sarawak’s cumulative number of cases up to 156,798.

With Sarawak placed first in Malaysia today, Selangor recorded 2,347 cases, followed by Johor (2,110), Sabah (1,717), Kelantan (1,435), and Pulau Pinang (1,309).

Kedah and Perak also reported three-digit case counts of 1,256 and 1,118 respectively.

Terengganu came in ninth place with 930 cases ahead of Pahang  (584), Kuala Lumpur (376), and Negeri Sembilan (283).

Perlis recorded 67 cases while Putrajaya registered 32. Labuan reported only three new cases today. — DayakDaily
