Covid-19: 47 positive cases, no death recorded nationwide today

KUCHING, May 18: Malaysia has recorded 47 positive Covid-19 cases today, bringing the total number of infections nationwide to 6,941.

Ministry of Health’s director general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in the ministry’s daily briefing in Putrajaya said in the last 24-hour, 44 cases were discharged, bringing it a total of 5,615 patients recovered from Covid-19 in Malaysia since the outbreak began.

No death cases were recorded in the same 24-hour span.

“Out of the 47 new cases, 21 of them were imported from overseas. The remaining 26 were local transmissions and out of that, 17 cases were foreigners.

“There are 1,213 active cases still being treated at the country’s health facilities at present. Our Covid-19 recovery rate is now at 80.9 percent out of the total number of positive cases,” Dr Noor Hisham said.

As for those treated in intensive care units (ICU), he said there are 13 cases while six of them required ventilator support. – DayakDaily
