KUCHING, June 6: A total of 37 new positive cases of Covid-19 with one death were reported throughout the country today.
Health director general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said, from the 37 new cases, eight were import cases who had been infected outside of the country.
He said that from the 29 local spread cases, 19 were foreigners and 10 other cases involved Malaysians, whereby the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) has informed that one death related to the Covid-19 was also recorded today.
This brought the total death cases to 117 (1.41 per cent).
“Case number 2,296, involved a 79-year-old Malaysian woman, who is a close contact with the Covid-19 positive case number 1,508.
“The deceased started showing the symptoms on March 18 and was admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital on March 26 after being confirmed positive for Covid-19. The deceased was pronounced dead on June 5 at 2.05 pm,” he said in a press conference on Covid-19 development in Putrajaya, today.
Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham also said that a total of 25 cases involving Covid-19 has recovered and discharged from the hospital as of today, bringing the total cumulative Covid-19 discharged and recovered cases to 6,635 (79.9 per cent).
He added that the cluster involving the health workers in Kuching, which involved 65 individuals, has ended its 28-day monitoring process as of today. –DayakDaily.
