Covid-19: 10 recoveries, zero new cases for fifth consecutive day

KUCHING, Aug 5: Sarawak recorded 10 recoveries and no new positive Covid-19 cases for the fifth consecutive day today.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement, said that the state thus maintained the cumulative of positive cases at 678.

Nine patients have recovered and discharged from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and one from Bintulu Hospital.


As such, the total number of recovered cases in Sarawak is 617 or 91 per cent of total positive cases so far.

As of today, 42 patients are still being treated in SGH with none admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or requiring respiratory support.

Meanwhile, the number of active clusters in Sarawak was maintained at 10 namely the Engineering Company Cluster with eight cases, Mambong Cluster (7), Healthcare Cluster (3), Jupiter Cluster (3), Stutong Market Cluster (7), Kuching Jetty Cluster (2), Sentosa Cluster (31), Melbourne PUI Cluster (3), Kuching Construction Company Cluster (2) and Satok Market Cluster (4).

Currently four districts are labelled yellow zone with less than 40 cases, namely Kuching, Samarahan, Serian and Lundu.

Sarawak also reported four more person-under-investigation (PUI) while one case is still awaiting laboratory test results.

In addition, 194 more person-under-surveillance (PUS) have been checked in to identified hotels to undergo compulsory 14-day quarantine.

As of today, there were a total number of 1,407 individuals undergoing quarantine in 17 hotels throughout the state. —DayakDaily
