SERIAN, May 29: A couple were tragically killed in a horrific three-vehicle collision that left the roof of their 4WD vehicle severely crushed near Kampung Engkabang B along Batu 52 of the Serian-Sri Aman Road yesterday (May 28) evening.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sri Aman, which responded to the emergency at 5.49pm, confirmed that the crash involved a lorry, a Toyota Hilux, and a Perodua Bezza.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the two victims, both aged 50, unconscious and trapped in the driver and front passenger seats of the 4WD, which had sustained severe damage to its roof.
After assessing the scene, firefighters used special rescue tools to extricate the couple. They were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from the Ministry of Health. Their remains were later handed over to health authorities and the police for further procedures.
The driver and a passenger of the Perodua Bezza were not present at the scene when rescuers arrived. Meanwhile, the lorry driver sustained head injuries.
The rescue operation concluded at around 6.35pm after firefighters secured the area and ensured the site was safe. — DayakDaily
