Couple killed after motorcycle crashes into broken-down lorry along PBH

KUCHING, Nov 10: A husband and wife were killed after their motorcycle crashed into the rear of a broken-down lorry at Kilometre 97 of the Pan Borneo Highway (PBH) from Sibu to Bintulu, near Sepiring, last night (Nov 9).

According to a news by TVS, Mukah District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Muhamad Rizal Alias said the accident occurred at about 7.45pm, claiming the lives of both victims, aged 28, who died at the scene from severe head injuries.

Initial investigations found that the motorcycle, ridden by the man with his wife as pillion, was travelling from Bintulu towards Selangau.

“The rider is believed to have lost control and rammed into the rear of the lorry, which had been parked by the roadside,” read the statement today.

A medical officer from the Selangau Health Clinic confirmed both victims had died at the scene. Their remains were later sent to Mukah Hospital for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
