Cops arrest man for trespassing, accomplice escapes

MIRI, Jan 10: A local man aged 24 was arrested today after a police patrol unit spotted him and an accomplice wandering around inside the compound of the Percetakan Nasional Malaysia Bhd building in Piasau.

According to Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, both suspects immediately fled the area upon realising that the police were approaching.

Police officers chased the duo for nearly 200 metres up to Jalan Datuk Edward Jeli and managed to catch one of them. The arrest was made around 12.20am today.


“The suspect has a previous record under Section 448 of the Penal Code for house trespassing in Sept 24 last year,” he said.

Currently, the suspect is being placed under police custody at Miri central police station.

“He will be investigated under Section 447 of the Penal Code for criminal trespass,” Lim continued. — DayakDaily
