SIBU, Nov 5: Kons Nicolester Dadup Unggat who was killed on Nov 1, was buried at Nirvana Memorial Park here this morning.
He was buried with full police honours, where a cavalcade of 10 motorcycles and several MPV led the hearse bearing his remains from his grandfather’s residence in Sibujaya to the memorial park.
The ceremony started at 6am with the cortege led by policemen leaving the residence.
Sibu district police chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit together with several other senior police officers in their uniform were present to observe the solemn ceremony.
Family members who were there include grandfather, Salang Kaya,76, his mother, Elizabeth Salang, 42, relatives and friends.
The late Nicholester, 20, was a policeman of the Patrol Vehicle Unit (MPV) and was stationed at the Bandar Dato ‘Onn Police Station in Johor Baru after completing his training at the Kuching Police Training Centre (Pulapol).
He was killed while his partner, L/Kpl Mohammad Fadhirul Musa, 32, sustained a serious injury on the head after their patrol car overturned while pursuing a Perodua Myvi along Jalan Kangkar Tebrau-Jalan Tun Teja in Johor.
The incident occurred around 5am on Sunday after the duo saw a grey car with two men behaving suspiciously inside.
The policemen in the MPV ordered the driver to pull over but he ignored the order and sped off.
During the chase that ensued, the police car crashed into another car coming from the opposite direction.
Both the male driver and a passenger in the SUV also suffered injuries.
Police had arrested four suspects which include a woman in relation to the case. – DayakDaily
