KUCHING, Jan 12: The Sessions Court today sentenced a convicted paedophile to 40 years in jail and 21 strokes of the cane for the production and preparation of child pornography involving a boy from the age of 10.
Forty-three-year-old Alladin Lanim from Lundu had been internationally flagged as one of the top ten offenders by the Australian Federal Police, Queensland Police, and the Australian Transactions Reports and Analysis Centre (Austrac) for child exploitation on the internet in 2019.
Sessions Court Judge Iris Awen Jon delivered the sentence based on Alladin’s guilty plea to three charges.
For the first charge, he received 22 years in jail and ten strokes of the cane; for the second charge, five years with three strokes; and for the third charge, 13 years in prison with eight strokes of the rotan.
Judge Iris ordered the jail sentences to run consecutively, effective today.
Alladin faced charges under the Sexual Offences Against Child Act (SOACA) 2017 for producing child pornography, preparing child pornography, and using the boy in the preparation and production of pornography.
The crimes occurred at a Biawak residence between August 13, 2018, and December 6, 2020.
Alladin is already serving jail time in Puncak Borneo prison until 2032 for various sexual offences involving children.
The arrest occurred on July 5, 2021, when police raided Alladin’s residence and found his mobile phone containing child pornography in the form of videos and photos.
The investigation revealed that Alladin had provided the victim with another mobile phone to play games while he recorded explicit videos and took photos of himself engaging in inappropriate activities with the boy.
Additionally, Alladin made the victim’s younger brother, aged nine at the time, witness these actions.
Alladin possessed 7,371 photos and 2,541 videos of the victim, along with material involving several other children. Alladin is also facing further charges for similar cases involving additional underage victims.
The investigation into Alladin’s activities began when an Australian task force for child victim identification discovered a social media image of him in 2020.
After an extensive international investigation involving agencies in Australia, the American, Malaysian, and Australian authorities located him in a State Covid-19 quarantine facility in Sarawak, where he was serving a mandatory isolation period after returning from a trip to Peninsular Malaysia. — DayakDaily
