KUCHING, Oct 22: The Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak has urged the contractor carrying out works along the Bau section road of Sarawak Pan Borneo Highway to improve the traffic signs and place blinkers to alert and caution drivers of conditions ahead for better management of traffic flow.

In a Facebook post yesterday, PWD Sarawak said a team led by its Pan Borneo Highway Unit chief Awang Mohd Fadillah Awang Redzuan went to visit the site following complaints from the public regarding traffic problems along the stretch.

Following that, he advised the contractor to put in place a better Traffic Management Plan (TMP) system at the locations affected by the ongoing construction works.

“The contractor has been urged to improve the traffic signs so that they are visible to road users and place blinkers at the corners of the modified temporary intersection.

“Any changes, diversion, and road closures must be notified to the public through an advisory notice to JKR Sarawak according to a suitable period of time so that the public knows the changes that occur,” Mohd Fadillah said.

During the visit, the contractor has also committed that both road lanes will be ready and open to the public by mid-November this year. — DayakDaily
