MIRI, Dec 21: The contractor of the flyover currently undergoing construction adjacent to the National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) Miri has given assurance that they would try to complete it before Chinese New Year, next year.

The contractor gave this assurance to Senadin assemblyman Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin during the latter’s brief visit to the site today.

“Once completed, the dual carriageway can be opened to traffic and the congestion problems will be resolved,” Lee asserted.

The flyover is part of the Sarawak Pan Borneo Highway project. Constructed started in 2016 under the Package Contract 11 (WPC 11).

Earlier this morning, Lee visited the site to follow up on public feedback on traffic congestion and the poor condition of a short road stretch near the IKBN flyover currently under final stage of completion.

“I’ve discussed with the Public Works Department (JKR) engineers and contractor on immediate remedial measures,” said Lee.

He disclosed that the contractor agreed to resurface the stretch of road mentioned within the next few days. — DayakDaily
