MIRI, June 12: A construction worker died after being buried under a mound of soil at a drainage pipe construction site near Lambir Rainforest, Jalan Miri-Bintulu late Thursday evening (June 11).
According to Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, the incident happened at 5.30 pm when the pile of soil suddenly collapsed on top of the 55-year-old worker, a local.
The deceased has been identified as Inggol Rebai.
Prior to the fatal mishap, Inggol was reportedly working about three metres underground to repair a leaked water pipe.
“He was pulled out by his co-workers at the site and sent to Miri hospital but died around 6.30 pm,” Lim said. —DayakDaily
