Construction for a new 280-metre access road to connect Jalan Ensing Timur to the Jalan Datuk Tan Men Chong junction in Batu Kawah here is set to commence on Jan 1, 2024.
Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman Tan Kai said the tender notice for the project will be published in local newspapers today (Oct 31).
“The construction will take eight months and upon completion, it will serve as an alternative entry and exit for residents in Stapok Utara.
“Additionally, it will also help to ease the traffic issue in this area,” he said in a statement following a pre-tender site inspection with the council’s engineering team yesterday (Oct 30).
The new access road, he added, will also be extended from the existing traffic light junction to Stapok Badminton Court.
Tan emphasised that the project, requested by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, was submitted under the 12th Malaysia Plan and subsequently approved by the Sarawak government.
Representatives from the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Batu Kawah Service Centre and owner of the Stapok Badminton Court were also present during the site visit. — DayakDaily
