KUCHING, July 22: The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today declared the end of the Construction Site Cluster in Kuching here after no new cases had been detected from this cluster over the past 28 days.

SDMC in a statement said that Case 570 was the last case involving this cluster being reported on June 24. The case has recovered and was discharged on July 6.

Up until today, 292 individuals had been screened and only three cases, or 1.03 per cent, were detected to be positive for Covid-19.

The index case for this cluster, which was Case 563, reported on June 18 was an Indonesian who entered Sarawak in March.

Considering that the index case had long been in Sarawak before being infected, SDMC concluded that the case was a local transmission.

Meanwhile, there were seven active clusters in Sarawak to date, with the Stutong Market Cluster saw an additional three cases, bringing the total in this cluster to six; and one additional case to the Sentosa Cluster, bringing the total in this cluster to 7.

No cases were reported in the other clusters namely Engineering Company Cluster (2 cases), Mambong Cluster (5 cases), Healthcare Cluster (3 cases), and Kuching Jetty Cluster (2 cases).

SDMC advised people to not let their guard down but remained vigilant by complying with all standard operating procedures (SOP) as well as safety and health guidelines in their daily activities.

People in the high-risk category including children, infants, senior citizens and those with special needs must be protected.

SDMC also reminded those who are not feeling well and have symptoms to go for check-up immediately.—DayakDaily
