“For this project, it will start with two kilometres first (due to insufficient funds), while (construction on) another two kilometres will start soon after the fund is made available,” Dr Jerip said today at a ceremony here to hand over the project to the contractor and performing the earth-breaking.

Dr Jerip revealed the project was undertaken under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) at a total cost of RM600,000.

He said the project includes building two bridges and culverts and would help residents from the two villages to have better access to their idle land.

Dr Jerip, who is the Mambong assemblyman added that the project will also benefit the residents of Kg Emperoh Git, where 25 families are already involved in coffee planting on a commercial basis.

“Having the farm road is a way to encourage the people to open up their NCR (native customary rights) land,” he stressed. — DayakDaily
