KUCHING, April 10: Connecting Limbang and Lawas to the Sarawak electricity grid will enable electricity exports to Sabah, says Deputy Premier Dato Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today, Awang Tengah said apart from ensuring Limbang has sufficient electricity supply, Sarawak through Sarawak Energy Berhad (Sarawak Energy) will also supply electricity to Sabah.

“This will enable the utility to also be exported to Sabah with the related agreement signed between the two parties,” he said during ‘Program Ihya Ramadan Perdana Borneo’ held in conjunction with the Nuzul Al-Quran 1444H/2023M celebration at Sahabat Mosque in Merapok, on Saturday (April 8).

Meanwhile, Awang Tengah said the Sarawak government has a master plan to continue developing areas in Merapok including building infrastructure such as offices and housing.

“We also want to develop facilities here to increase border trade,” he added. — DayakDaily
