KUCHING, Sept 7: The conferment of a state award by the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, on Tuai Rumah Datuk Raymond Plen is a testament to his leadership and dedicated service to the community, especially to the longhouse residents under his care, and a profound and significant honour to the Dayak community.

In a Facebook post, Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said this was not only a source of pride for Raymond and his family, but also for the residents of Rumah Panjang Raymond Plen and the Dayak community.

“What makes this even more special is that the award was conferred after Raymond’s longhouse in Gelam, Sebauh, became a stopover location during the Borneo Tour in 2023,” said Nanta, who is also Kapit MP.

He also said that the longhouse was close to his heart, as that was where his late father-in-law, Tan Sri Celestine Ujang Jilan, came from.

In addition, he said, Rumah Raymond has often been chosen as a venue for visits and various government programmes, including leaders with the people sessions with former national leaders.

He expressed confidence that with this recognition, Raymond will continue to lead with dedication and play an active role in strengthening community unity and supporting the development of both the State and nation.

In July, Raymond was conferred the Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang, which carries the honorary title Dato’, in conjunction with Al-Sultan Abdullah’s 66th birthday celebration. — DayakDaily
