Complete Mile 6, 7 and 10 flyovers, PBK tells Works Minister

The ongoing construction at one of the flyovers along Jalan Penrissen, Kuching.

KUCHING, Sept 3: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) has urged Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof to accelerate the ongoing construction of the flyovers at Mile 6, 7 and 10 in Jalan Penrissen, Kuching.

The party’s Southern Zone director of political affairs, Raymond Thong said the construction of the flyovers were part of the package under the Pan Borneo Highway project which started in mid 2017 and was initially slated for completion in Oct 31 last year.

“Now it is already September 2021 and only the Mile 4 flyover is completed and ready for use. When are the flyovers at Mile 6, 7 and 10 going to be completed and ready for use?

“It is estimated that 80,000 road users are using the Penrissen and the adjoining roads daily. The people of Kuching are a patient lot and they have been suffering in silence since mid-2017.

“It is time for the people to speak up and tell the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government that these delays are not acceptable anymore.

“There must be accountability and responsibility on the part of the GPS government to ensure that these very crucial projects are completed on time,” he said in a statement today.

Thong added that GPS was in the previous Perikatan Nasional (PN) government for 17 months, and Fadillah was then the Senior Works Minister.

“Now with him back again as the Senior Works Minister under a new administration with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob at the helm, let us see what he can do this time around and whether the prime minister will listen to the GPS government,” he said. — DayakDaily
