Community empowerment programme benefits over 100 longhouse folks

LUBOK ANTU, Oct 18: More than 100 rural folks took part in the “Ulu Education – 3K (Kebersihan, Keselamatan dan Kesihatan) empowerment programme” held at Rh Liam, Rantau Kemayau Manis, here.

The two-day programme, organised by the Lubok Antu Community Development Council, is an effort to educate villagers about health, safety and cleanliness in their surrounding.

“Among the activities organised during the programme included safety talk as well as fire extinguishing demonstration using the provided fire extinguisher in the longhouses, which was led by Fire and Rescue officers Henry Jugah and Edward Baka,” the organiser said in a statement.


The Lubok Antu District police also took the opportunity to carry out their community policing talk.

Lubok Antu District Council (MDLA) opened their servicing counter for the villagers around the area, as well as organising a sporting event as an effort to promote healthy living.

The programme was led by councillor Rober Angai together with 19 others councillors from MDLA. — DayakDaily.
