KUCHING, Oct 15: Project delivery partners (PDPs) must show their commitment in delivering needed infrastructure development projects to the rakyat, says Assistant Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Julaihi Narawi.
He admitted that challenges in implementing projects exist at various levels, including at the pre-contract level, whereby appointing capable contractors will ensure the smooth implementation of a project.
“However, we should also know that the rakyat are not aware nor concerned about such processes. What they care about is the completion of the project in the stipulated time, or earlier.
“That is why we must be committed enough to prove to and show the public that we are able to deliver the projects that are being planned and implemented, because whatever projects that we implement on the ground reflect the image of the government of the day, and also anybody involved in the implementation of the project,” he said in his speech at the closing ceremony for “Workshop on Administration of Contracts Towards Project Delivery Excellence for Sarawak Government Projects” at a hotel here today.
He also noted that this is crucial because in the event of any slight delay or problem, the public, especially those looking to cause mischief will pick up on it and it will become an issue if not addressed at the early stage of a project.
“I think this is a must for all of us (project delivery partners), that we must be committed enough to prove that we are capable,” he added. — DayakDaily
