Collision with lorry kills motorcyclist in Miri

MIRI, Dec 7: A motorcyclist was killed after colliding into the back of a lorry on Jalan Jelita, Miri Bypass on Monday night (Dec 4).

Miri District Police Chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said during the incident, the victim was believed to be on his way home at around 10pm.

According to him, the victim did not have enough time to avoid hitting a lorry parked on the side of the road.


“The initial investigation found that the lorry was damaged and parked on the side of the road.

“The victim is believed to have been unaware of the lorry and hit the back of it,” he said in a statement.

The victim was confirmed dead at the scene due to serious injuries.

Further investigation of the case is still underway under the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987. — DayakDaily
