MUKAH, Nov 15: A 43-year-old man was killed when the car he was in, driven by his wife, collided with another vehicle at KM3 Jalan Oya-Mukah yesterday (Nov 14).
In the 4.20pm incident, the victim, identified as Khusairy Hussien, was pronounced dead while undergoing treatment at Mukah Hospital, as reported by TVS.
Mukah District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent (DSP) Muhamad Rizal Alias said preliminary investigations found that the collision occurred when a Perodua Ativa driven by a 31-year-old man coming from the direction of Mukah lost control and swerved into the opposition lane, leading to a collision with a Hyundai Accent travelling from the direction of Oya.
All the injured victims were promptly taken to Mukah Hospital for medical attention.
“Unfortunately, the medical officer at Mukah Hospital confirmed the death of the passenger in the Hyundai, who suffered severe injuries to the body, at 5.34pm,” he said in a statement.
Muhamad Rizal further disclosed that both drivers involved sustained serious injuries. The deceased’s wife suffered an injury to her left rib, while the 31-year-old male driver sustained a serious injury to his right leg.
The case is being investigated in accordance with Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
