KUCHING, May 15: A few coffee shops located at Jalan Song here were seen not adhering to the Standard Operating Procudures (SOPs) as set by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) on the reopening of businesses during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period here.

A DayakDaily reader observed that the coffee shops did not implement the social distancing rule of sitting one-metre apart for diners as set by SDMC.

He also observed that several patrons at one of the coffee shops there were sitting close and talking to each other.

He believed the coffee shops operators have violated the SOPs during CMCO.

Meanwhile, Kuching City South Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng in his Facebook page last night said MBKS enforcement officers together with the police, armed forces personnel had patrolled at several coffee shops at BDC areas after receiving complaints from the public.

He noted they checked on the eateries there to ensure that the operators were compling with the SOPs set by SDMC.

At the same time, Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob had said that the public is welcomed to report those who have violated the SOPs to the police if they come across such an incident. – DayakDaily
