KUCHING, April 12: Food stall hawkers operating at coffee shops  have been told to register their businesses with the respective local authorities to be eligible for the Sarawakku Sayang Assistance Package 2.0 special grant.

Sibu Coffee Shop and Restaurant Owners Association chairman, Tong Ing Kok, said the RM1,500 grant was meant to help hawkers and petty traders but they must register their businesses with the respective local councils.

“We welcome the Sarawakku Sayang Assistance Package 2.0 announced by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg on April 10, which offers a special grant amounting to RM1,500 for each hawker and petty trader.

“The grant is also meant for those coffee shop food stall hawkers who have not registered with the authorities, with condition that they register their businesses to be eligible for the grant,” he said in a statement.

Tong expressed his gratitude to the state government for making the necessary adjustment in its policy to allow food stall hawkers to also benefit from the grant.

He said the grant would ease the financial burden of the hawkers and petty traders. — DayakDaily
