KUCHING, Nov 6: Bridges for which construction has started along the coastal road are expected to be completed according to schedule as in their respective tenders, disclosed Assistant Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development Datuk Julaihi Narawi.

Yussibnosh wanted details about the timeline for the completion of the coastal road, saying the rural people could not bear the delay anymore, such as the Sibu-Selangau road which was in very bad condition.

According to Julaihi, the Sungai Krian Bridge in Betong division is expected to be done on Feb 24, 2022 which means in three years’ time; Batang Paloh Bridge in Mukah division (April 9, 2023); and Muara Lassa Bridge in Mukah (Feb 21, 2023); Batang Saribas Bridge in Betong (May 5, 2023); Pasir Sarikei-Tanjung Manis road including Batang Rajang Bridge (21 Feb 2023); and Bintulu-Jepak Bridge across Kuala Kemena (March 5, 2023).

As for efforts to improve and upgrade the coastal roads in Mukah division, he added eight packages have been identified and the work would cover 127.3km. — DayakDaily
