KUCHING, July 30: Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad (CMS) has confirmed today that one of its employees based at its headquarters in Wisma Mahmud here has tested positive for Covid-19 on July 23.

In a statement, CMS assured that there will be no disruption to any of its services as it has taken all necessary precautions and measures to curb the spread of the disease and ensure workplace safety for all its employees, tenants and clients.

“The employee, who is a non-operational staff member, is currently receiving medical treatment and being quarantined. He had last visited the office premises on July 16,” said the statement.

Following that, CMS emphasised that it had immediately instructed all staff and tenants who had been in office at any time between July 16 and 26th to undergo testing and observed home quarantine pending the outcome of the lab tests.

“All the tests came back negative, except for one staff whose result was deemed inconclusive, and needed a second swab test.
“The staff is under quarantine as a precautionary measure even though the second test results have returned negative,” it added.

CMS has also commenced a thorough sanitisation of all the floors in the office building and other common facilities in accordance with safety and health guidelines.

“We wish to reiterate that the safety and well-being of our employees, customers and external partners are of utmost importance to us.

“We have implemented various SOPs (standard operating procedures) to help curb the spread of this virus, including registering employees and visitors, temperature checks before being allowed entry to any CMS premises, enforcing the usage of face masks for everyone within the premises, placement of markers for physical distancing, and the provision of hand sanitisers at various locations,” it reassured.— DayakDaily
