SEBUYAU, July 9: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg says the candidate to replace Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz has not been decided upon yet.

He disclosed that this was as that the state election is still far away.

“For the replacement of Abdul Wahab, we have to wait… the election is still far away, so the replacement has not been decided yet,” he told reporters today at the Sebuyau Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) service centre here.

Abang Johari, who earlier launched the Samarahan water supply project was asked to  comment about Kalaka incumbent Datuk Abdul Wahab Aziz, who said he will not be defending the seat in the coming state election.

Abang Johari, who is also the PBB president, expressed his gratitude to the six-term assemblyman, who he said knows when to give way to young blood.

“This is the culture in PBB to give way to the young people and (which I) hope that other political parties can emulate,” he said.

The chief minister was also asked about Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How who claimed that the state government has abandoned the open tender process.

On this he replied: “We never abandoned it; we have certain procedure to comply with.” — DayakDaily
