KUCHING, Dec 27: The closure of Jalan Kuching-Bau near Siniawan has been extended until Jan 7, 2024.

In an advisory notice today, the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak explained that traffic will continue to be redirected through Siniawan old town due to ongoing repair efforts.

JKR Sarawak said the extension of the road closure is due to cracks on the road surface, slope instability and culvert failure.

The road closure started from Oct 9, following the emergence of a big hole in the middle of the road on Oct 7. Repair works have been underway since then.
