Close call at Bintulu factory as emergency response team contains chip bin blaze

KUCHING, June 22: A fire broke out in a chip bin at a Bintulu factory, but thanks to the prompt response of the facility’s emergency response team (ERT), the flames were contained before they could spread.

According to a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a call was received at 3.52am, and firefighters from the Bintulu station were deployed.

Upon arrival, it was noted that the fire involved a chip bin, a sawdust storage unit, at the location, and the fire did not affect the building’s structure.

The fire was extinguished by the factory’s ERT, consisting of nine people, using three fire extinguishers before the arrival of firefighters.

After the fire was extinguished, firefighters conducted cooling operations to prevent the fire from reigniting.
