KUCHING, March 20: The State Disaster Management Committee has identified a few clusters as the source of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak in Sarawak.

Its chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said in Kuching, the Emmanuel Baptist Church and Good News Fellowship Church have been identified as among the clusters.

This included DAP fundraising dinner at Thian Court, Crown Square, on March 7 and Josephian Day at SMK St Joseph on March 13.

However, he added that the Sarikei cluster, which affected Sarikei MP Wong Bing Liu, as well as his son, national athlete Jackie Wong, has yet to be identified.

“I would like to appeal to those who have attended the gatherings and are having close contact with those who have attended the gatherings to go to the nearest hospital for the necessary health screening.

“It is very important to you and everyone else,” the deputy chief minister told a press conference in a live telecast from Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) last night.

Uggah said in Kuching, the Sarawak Public Health College, Institut Kemajuan Desa and the state’s Institut Tadbiran Awam Negara (INTAN) have been earmarked to house person-under investigation (PUI) cases.

He added that the State Disaster Management Committee has also identified the Kemuyang Youth Camp in Sibu, Similajau National Park in Bintulu and Petronas Sports Village in Miri to house PUI cases.

He assured the public that those who will be sent there are only for PUI cases and not Covid-19 positive cases. — DayakDaily
