KUCHING, Dec 20: Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen urges the Sarawak government to provide immediate assistance to 26 families at Moyan Batu Kawa who were affected by a heavy storm yesterday.
Chong in a press statement today said he visited the storm victims this morning before flying to Kuala Lumpur to attend a Parliament sitting.
“Most of them are from the low income group and in times of such natural disaster, they need financial aid to help (them) right over.
“Let’s all do our part to help,” he said.
Chong, who is also Stampin MP said he will allocate funds from his MP allocation to the affected families to help them to repair the roofs of their houses and obtain some furniture. — DayakDaily
