KUCHING, Jan 9: Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen criticises opposition parties which “vanished” and stopped providing services to the people after the 12th Sarawak Election even though the rakyat are still in need.

Instead, Chong in a statement today said DAP, unlike other opposition parties will continue to provide services to the people whether during election time or not.

He regretted that some opposition candidates had suddenly “vanished” and were nowhere to be seen while many had contested and campaigned strongly in the 12th Sarawak Election.

“We DAP believe in consistent service to the people. As such, despite the setback in the recently concluded elections, our team’s morale is maintained and our service to the people continues,” he said.

In the meantime, Chong who is also the Stampin MP added that he and the DAP Stampin service team had operated a mobile service counter for the public at Taman Genesis, Batu Kawah here today.

He said the majority of the public which approached them sought help to update and submit applications for the Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia (BKM) programme.

Chong, who is also the Padungan assemblyman added that there were also some people who approached him seeking legal advice.

Among those who joined the mobile service team was Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii who was also the DAP candidate for N14 Batu Kawah seat in the 12th Sarawak Election last month. — DayakDaily
