KUCHING, June 6: In the second ‘Harmonious Sarawak Photography Competition’, which was held in conjunction with the Seng-Ong Deity Birthday and Procession 2024, Chong Siat Choo took first place in the Professional Camera Category.
Wei Yue Boon secured second place while Wong See Wah claimed third place in the same category.
Consolation prizes for the Professional Camera Category were awarded to Ho Kok Boon, Yu Yong Keat, Chong Siat Choo, Tai Mei Lin, How Yong Way Chee, Peter Lo Kong San, Hu Felix Toh Kai, John Lai Teck Kee, and James Wong Kiong.
Meanwhile, in the Digital Mobile Phone Category, Yekea Liew secured the top spot, with Lim May Meei and John Lai Teck Kee in second and third place, respectively.
Consolation prizes for the Digital Mobile Phone Category were awarded to Phui Foh Kong, Ngoh Chee Keong, Lim Hui Ing, Lim May Meei, John Lister Chan Sze Chieh, John Lai Teck Kee, and Wee Eng Hua.
In the ‘Harmonious Sarawak Short Video Creation Competition’, the champion prize went to Tan Tze Yung, Jeeridyne-Eve Chan Sue En, and Teo Chi Wei.
Hwong Lik Han was the first runner-up, with Alan Lee Pik Jin as the second runner-up. John Lister Chan Sze Chieh received the excellence award, while Chong Jen Na was awarded the consolation prize.
In a press release, the Kuching Hockien Association highlighted that 1,050 entries were received for the two categories.
“This year is the Year of the Dragon, which is the most admired by the Chinese, so the number of entries submitted by contestants is significantly higher than the previous year.
“A total of 47 people sent their works to participate in the professional camera category; the digital mobile phone category received 39 participants. The judges took two days to complete all of the review work,” the association said.
As per the Kuching Hockien Association, the judging panel selected the winning photos based on the theme of the competition and the precious aspects of harmonious coexistence among Sarawakians, to show the celebration, harmony and joy of the people of the State in their own imaginative way.
“The Kuching Hockien Association Hong San Si Temple took advantage of hosting this photography competition and short video creation competition to capture and record many beautiful and harmonious moments,” the association added. — DayakDaily
