KUCHING, Jan 22: SMK Jalan Arang’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) today received RM20,000 from Deputy Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Chong Chieng Jen.

Democratic Action Party (DAP) Batu Kitang chairman Abdul Aziz Isa represented Chong to hand over the cheque to the PTA chairman Anthony Bayan.

Abdul Aziz said the federal government gives education priority attention, and it had a duty to allocate funds to schools.

“The money will be used by the PTA for their annual activities and whatever else they have in mind for the school,” he said.

On the school’s water-logged football field due to soil conditions and likely its design as well, Abdul Aziz said his side would try to figure out a solution in order to create a conducive school environment.

Present at the brief handing-over ceremony were former Stampin MP Julian Tan, former Batu Kawah assemblywoman Christina Chiew and the school’s afternoon supervisor Lim Kien Heng.
